Masterplan Architects and Builders is a full service General Contracting firm licensed in the State of Maryland which is wholly owned and operated by Registered Architects with more than 63 years combined construction industry experience on a wide range of building types.

The firm was founded originally in Baltimore in 1990 as Southern Cross Homes by Christopher J. Pfund, AIA, a Registered Architect, who, originally from Australia, began his residential construction career in the United States engaging primarily in the construction of new residences and additions until the formation of Masterplan in 2004, which added light commercial projects to it’s portfolio.  Over the length of his career, Mr. Pfund has supervised the construction of numerous Commercial Projects totaling millions of dollars in both Australia and the US including Banking and Data Center facilities for large corporate entities.

Wesley D. Burton AIA, also a Registered Architect, has since joined the firm as an Owner/Partner, bringing extensive experience in the supervision of Commercial Projects including Business, Retail, Healthcare, Hospitality, Religious, and Industrial facilities.

As a Design/Build firm, MasterPlan possesses the distinct advantage of management comprised of seasoned professionals who seamlessly design and construct the end product for the user.  Costs are controlled throughout the evolution of the project, eliminating cost-reduction revisions after the fact, which inevitably result in costly delays.

Masterplan maintains a combined workforce of approximately ten office, field, and support personnel operating out of its Towson office.  In addition to a number of residential projects utilizing both conventional and  modular technologies, the firm has recently completed construction on local Fitness and Recreational commercial projects in Baltimore County and is currently constructing a new, free-standing $1.1 million Orthodontal Office in Shrewsbury PA.
